Wilderness Connection for the Urban Tribe

Wilderness Connection

for Excellence

College &

Seminary Courses

There are many urban youth - resident and transient, whose lives need a positive direction.  The Tribe offers backpacking, day hikes, and rock climbing trips that promote personal, social and spiritual well-being for these youth.

If you belong to a non-profit,  school, ministry, or church and would like to participate in this program, please contact us.

The Tribe of Jesus is a Non-Profit registered with the State of Colorado.

Rock Climbing

Nothing like the satisfaction and joy of scaling a rock face and enjoying the view from the top.  We use technical climbing gear and certified guides to provide a safe and fun climbing experience. NOTE: We are not teaching any participant technical climbing - we provide a climbing experience only.  We provide all the needed helmets, climbing shoes, harnesses, etc.  Climbing can be a one day event on the weekend or part of a camping trip.  In 20 years of providing climbing experiences, Steve has never had anyone seriously  injured—there’s an occasional scrap on a knee or finger—rocks are sharp and hard at times!  It’s a great feeling overcoming your personal challenges on a rock climb and encouraging others as they climb.  Our guides can provide for the group  reflective and personal growth discussion times.

Our urban youth must overcome many obstacles to achieve academic excellence.  A  wilderness experience can be a positive step in their academic and social pursuits.  Our guides will take your group on a rewarding  hike or climbing trip where the elements & challenges of the outdoors can teach them much!

If you belong to a non-profit, school, ministry or church that would like to partner with us, please contact us.

Day Hikes & Backpacking

There are great wilderness day hikes close to the Denver Metro area.  Hiking gets us away from the crowds, the noise of urban life, and gives us a chance to connect with each other and the natural environment.  The rewards of arriving at an alpine lake, enjoying a mountain sunset, or hiking in a flower filled meadow is so worth it!  Our mountain guides and group leaders will provide a rewarding and safe experience in the wilderness.  Depending on the needs of the group we will teach about the natural surroundings and involve the group in activities and discussion to benefit their personal well-being.  Suppose you needed to live for a couple of days outside your residence, what would you need to get by?  In backpacking we condense and prioritize all those items into a pack you’ll carry on your back.  We’ll give you a list and help you decide what weighs too much and what is essential.  Once again, we provide all the needed gear and supplies.  You just need to bring clothes and a few personal items like a toothbrush, wash cloth, etc.

Camping & Hiking

This is car camping at it’s best!  We provide quality camping gear for a positive experience.  Most trips will be on the weekend.  We’ll drive to a great campsite and set up camp.  Putting up your own tent can be a challenge in communication and relationships itself.  After camp is set up we’ll enjoy a campfire, the stars, and sleeping in the mountain air.  Our group will drive and begin a day hike to a mountain lake, a flower filled meadow or a mountain peak.  Our mountain guides will safely guide you on the hike carrying emergency first aid supplies and survival gear.  The guides will at times teach natural science lessons concerning the flora, fauna, and geological aspects of the area.  While hiking or in camp, the guides or a group leader can direct activities that focus on positive relationships, personal communication, spiritual reflection or other goals for the  group.
