Who the heck are
you guys? Good
question.
Pastor Steve
First
lets start with Pastor Steve, that's me. The past 22 years before
arriving in Denver I was in California & Washington State. I lived
in the San Francisco Bay Area, near Mt. Rainer National Park, and then
18 years at Yosemite National Park. At Yosemite I was a full time
"missionary" there. The ministry I lead focused on local
residents and the seasonal young adults who worked in the park. I
also directed a Christian wilderness program, teaching classes at the
collegiate and seminary level. Over the years I developed a PostChristian approach to ministry and relationships.
One thing I enjoyed developing and teaching was a Socratic approach to
having spiritual discussions with friends, along with paraphrasing and
telling stories about what Jesus did and said.
Currently, for my "day job" I'm the Manager of the
Denver Ronald McDonald House; Serving children with medical needs and
their families by providing low cost lodging, free meals, and other
programs.
My
lovely wife Karen is a National Park Service Ranger. We prayed for
God to direct us to a new place, an urban place, where we could find employment and begin a
new Tribe of Jesus. In a true
miracle of God, she was offered a new NPS position in Lakewood and we
moved. So God has led us to
Colorado! We love it here and look forward to the adventure of
seeking out the unchurched, the dechurched, and Christ followers who feel
somewhat disenfranchised from the institutional church. The Tribe of Jesus
is a tribe within the New Denver Church. Together we are a tribe
of Jesus followers in a journey of life, faith, and mission. So
please pray about being a part of the New Denver Church on this journey and
adventure in following Christ. I hope to meet you soon!
